Except sacred things, calligraphy rules, and all the worldly rules, which are made by men, can, and indeed, it's healthier to be dealt with as follows:
1 - It's important to set the rules to know the correct methodology for achieving goals
2 - It's important not to adhere to the rules completely, that's, not to sanctify the worldly rules! Adherence means blind dependency!!!
Adherence means building a huge barrier, in the subconscious mind, preventing the realization of the values of change, creativity, optimization, diligence, and renewal! So, beauty will gradually diminish! Adherence means a foregone conclusion, that's, to follow the approach of the forerunners without questioning, scrutiny, evaluation, modification, or change!
3 - It's more crucial to subject the human rules to these operations: adjustment, correction, and deleting, if necessary!

Why should the rules set by humans be updated?
In my own opinion, modernization is the logic of development, creativity, diligence, optimization, and renewal! Of course, except the messengers chosen by Allah, the Almighty! Because those who set those worldly rules (except for the sanctities) are human beings like us! They put them according to their mental abilities index, and according to the temporal circumstance, the historical context, and the social awareness they experienced at that time. Every era has its scholars, thinkers, and creators!
This means it's our right and duty, to review and scrutinize all human set rules (except the sacred)! Thus, we, too, will create new rules or develop the previous ones, so that the future generation can also review the rules we set, and they bear the responsibility of correcting and updating what we created! If we do not carry out these operations, continuously, we will fall into blind stereotyping and dependency, and therefore we'll not witness the emergence of new arts, and we'll be satisfied with the "copy and paste" process, or what we call “tautology”!
Is it possible to modify, update, and upgrade the rules of Arabic and English calligraphy?
In the field of Arabic calligraphy, English calligraphy, sciences, all arts and crafts, etc, these operations can be carried out after mastering the rules:
1 - Adhere to the rules and be satisfied with them in drawing different types of calligraphy!
2 - Mix the rules of each type of font and the different forms of fonts to create a word that gathers different fonts and different rules!
3 - Feel free to change and develop both the rules of calligraphy as well as the forms of calligraphy to create new rules and modern creative forms..!
Freedom in the field of calligraphy, and art in general, is the best way to revive creativity, in contrast to the strategy of total adherence to rules, which perpetuates consumerist thought and blind dependency! The absence of freedom in dealing with various arts and with different areas of life means the absence of aesthetics, pleasure, splendor, and suspense! This means depriving humans of beauty, which is one of the most important sources of positive self-motivation to live a better life, a life full of hope, optimism, effectiveness, and productivity!
