How Does Nature Teach Humans Patience And Perseverance To Meet Goals?

How Does Nature Teach Humans Patience And Perseverance To Meet Goals?

Nature, in general, is the most trustworthy source for learning lessons. For this reason, we find that the villagers (the inhabitants of the desert) are wise by nature, thanks to their direct relationship with nature, from which they derive wisdom, energy (physical and moral), and refined knowledge..! The more a person is close to the soil, plants, and animals, the more he/she interacts with his origin, which helps increase the level of the immune system, and the evidence for this is the type of farmer's life! If you look at your villager (Bedouin) relatives (especially the peasants) you'll notice that they live a simple life, almost devoid of the complexities of irrational civilization! You'll, also, notice that they are healthy and optimistic despite their modest daily income! Certainly, they are examples of wisdom and eligibility for advice, even though they are not educated because they graduated from the school of normal life! And science proves that human contact with nature (soil, water, plants, animals..), whether through agriculture, livestock breeding, or grazing.. makes him a person with high morals, advanced awareness, sound health, sound thought, a strong body, quick-wittedness, wisdom, sociable by nature..!

How Does Nature Teach Humans Patience And Perseverance To Meet Goals?

What is the nature of man's relationship with the environment?

Man is a son of his environment, meaning that man is the son of nature, which signifies that nature is the mother of man! Since the mother is the first to teach her children all the basic skills in life, nature is the best teacher for man!

Every creature, created by Allah the Almighty, gives humans an enormous amount of lessons that if we extract as much as possible from them, our life would be a paradise on earth, but how come? How could Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, create the entire universe for man, that is, make it in the service of mankind at all levels? The creation of water, soil, and air work on providing humans with the highest levels of life, but we rarely realize the great benefits of the various components of the universe, especially plants and animals!

In most cases, we find that most people focus on the direct material benefits that are limited to the fact that these creatures provide them with food, clothing, and housing.. and they neglect many of the great benefits bestowed upon them by these great beings! As if a person focuses on living much more than life!

It's important to know that living is easier and less valuable than life, and that life is greater than living! Living may be limited only to providing the tangible and necessary materials to survive. Here we say “man lives on eating and drinking”! In this case, the quality of the food, and the origin of the food are matters that may be placed in a secondary category!

As for life, it bears the meaning of reviving the body and soul by selecting healthy food (physical food, i.e. eating and drinking), as well as spiritual food (moral food, i.e. science and knowledge) that is healthy!

Why did Allah, the Almighty, create this universe?

It's well known that Allah, the Almighty, has created the entire universe, but we ignore a great fact, which is that Allah, Glory be to Him, has oriented all creatures to serve man! On the other hand, it's the responsibility of man to make good use of natural resources (water, soil, plants, animals..) and to rationalize the consumption of energy and minerals in order to achieve the will of Allah, Glory be to Him!

Man is the only one responsible for the result, whether he/she decides to preserve and develop the natural resources (quiet seas full of fish, green forests teeming with animals, dams full of water, regular seasons, i.e. adequate and timely rain, and healthy sun..) or he/she decides to deplete nature by causing pollution, floods, global warming, earthquakes, volcanoes, fires, drought..)!

To be at the level of this task, Allah the Almighty, has endowed man with the most important energy and greatest laboratory in the universe, which is the mind, why? To enable humans to think about the most effective ways and means to maintain this great deposit (the universe), and gave them freedom or choice to treat it as they like!

And for reference, contrary to what the intellectual fallacies and religious fallacies say about fate, destiny, and affliction.., any disturbance that occurs in this universe, and any health imbalance that affects man, man is the direct and only cause of that! That's why we should cease exonerating ourselves all the time! Let us confess our sins so that we can provide prevention as well as achieve a cure that leads to healing

Allah, the Exalted, the Majestic, said in the Holly Quran: “Whatever difficult afflicts you, O people, in yourself and your health it is because of the sins that your hands earned!” He also said, "Whatever good happens to thee is from Allah, and whatever evil befalls thee is from thyself!" So, things are very clear and there's no need to shirk responsibility and there's no justification for taking the position of the victim!

How does nature provide the best lessons and lessons for man?

The universe operates according to a tight system of wise, expert measure, and that's Allah, the Almighty! But as long as this universe has been harnessed for the benefit of man, and humanity in general, it's affected by the quality of human action, that's, human intervention

Allah did not create all the components of the universe (planets, seas, earth, animals, plants, etc) just so that man could benefit from the material aspect only (food, clothing, housing..) to survive, but to derive lessons from them to live, meaning the pursuit of life! As I said at the beginning of this topic, there's a big difference between living and life!

I will give some examples of beings that Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, created and harnessed to man to benefit from them on a much better level rather than the material side:

Dog's loyalty

Allah, the Almighty, honored the dog and raised his value when he mentioned it with the people of the Cave, in Surat Al-Kahf in the Holy Qur’an! Whatever we say and no matter how much we search, we'll not meet the right value and status of the great creature, the dog! Allah has set an example for us in loyalty embodied in this pure and clean being! I think, and Allah knows best, that Allah has put this great quality in the dog (loyalty, along with courage) because he knows that we'll not be loyal enough to each other! And whenever we act with a lack of loyalty, the dog comes to remind us of our weakness, so that we may understand the lesson!

Unfortunately for this great being (the dog), those interested in the religious field, and instead of thanking him and praising him, why not call for taking care of the dogs and being kind to animals in general, they've offended him a lot, how is that?

Many specialists in religion have criticized the dog: “The dog is an unclean animal, and if you touch it, you should renew ablution in order to pray” (for Muslims); “If the dog enters the house, the angels come out"; “The dog can be kept outside the house and its role is limited to Watching, guarding and hunting only!

They say something they do not know through studies and research, and if they knew the contradiction in their words, they would be deeply remorseful! How can they say that a dog is an impure animal and then allow the use of a dog for hunting?! If touching a dog invalidates ablution because of its impurity, how can we eat the prey that the hunting dog brought to us after sticking its fangs into it to carry it to us?! And why did Allah allow the dog to sleep next to the people of the cave while it's an unclean being, as those, who insult Allah’s creation, claim?!

Instead that clerics explaining the lessons for which Allah sent the dog to humanity, they frightened people from approaching it for fear of picking up the impurity. They also forbade people to bring the dog into the house for fear of expelling the angels!

The strange thing is that a large part of one of the most important sources of trust, i.e. doctors, has slandered dogs and cats under the pretense that they are animals that cause diseases due to the leakage of samples of fur into the human body while eating or petting cats and dogs! Of course, all these rumors are nothing but strange types of scientific fallacies that aim to create a growing commercial market! However, they have no idea neither about animal welfare!

Cat hygiene

We all get surprised by the cleanliness of cats, whether outside or inside the house, as they spend most of their time passing their tongue over their fur to remove all dirt and parasite. In addition to the extreme keenness of cats to bury their droppings under the soil so as not to disturb the surrounding with the smell that's said to be "unpleasant", I see it as a normal matter, as we, humans, also, have our own smell! Cats also bury their feces in order to protect themselves from the attack of fierce cats, and any other animals, which locate the cats after picking up the smell of feces!

But whoever follows any pregnant cat at the moment of childbearing, I mean during and after she has finished giving birth to her young, will be surprised by the keenness of this mother cat! She cleans herself as well as her young (the kittens) at the same time to the limit that you can not find a trace of the feces of the young, because she eats it before it falls to the ground! The cat has a high-precision sensor, in addition to other energies and skills, that helps her know when her young will urinate and defecate!

The seriousness of the ant and bee community

These little beings are considered pioneering schools when it comes to values of commitment, cooperation, solidarity, interdependence, patience, struggle, hard work, diligence, and serving the public interest! We often set them as examples when these moral values are mentioned, but the application, in reality, should be reviewed! Allah, the Almighty, sent us these great beings as institutes of continuous formation to benefit from their experience, but we often do not comprehend the lesson! There're many examples of creatures that Allah, the Almighty, created, and harnessed to serve man on the moral level (drawing lessons and wisdom) more than on the material level (providing food, clothing, and housing)!

Perseverance and patience of the snail, the tortoise, and the camel

In general, all slow-moving creatures own particular qualities and skills even if they seem slow, like wisdom, purpose, and strength. It's not supposed that Allah, the Almighty, has created these creatures and has planted slowness in them as a kind of weakness or deficiency! Rather, he put this characteristic in them because he knows that it's the best and most suitable for them to live in an environment that is rich with diverse creatures!

And if He created all beings on the same and common characteristic (speed, for example), there would be no principle of difference, diversity, and uniqueness! Then, humans would not have the opportunity to acquire these great values, such as patience, endurance, resistance, and challenge!

What are the lessons learned from slow-moving organisms?

The most important of all is that Allah, the Almighty, has distinguished the snail, the turtle, the camel, and all the slow creatures with the feature of slowness to be a reference for us to draw lessons, wisdom, and values if we really understand the meaning of “Contemplation of Allah's creation”! In my humble opinion, the most important lessons that slow beings give us are:

1 - Seriousness, mastery, and diligence in completing all tasksservices, and works in the agreed time, whatever the level of importance! Here, the value of patience is evident, especially when performing hard and poorly paid tasks for the sake of others.

For me, this issue is very important because there're many people who strive only when it comes to their own business, that is, something that brings them a certain benefit. But when they perform a job or a task or provide a service to others in exchange for money, they focus only on the time when they will get the reward. However, they do not pay much attention to the values of hard work and diligence!

2 - Perseverance, resistance, endurance, challenge: The snail, the tortoise, the camel, and all the slow-moving creatures own these characteristics. It's certain that you have never seen a snail or tortoise grumbling or complaining about the length of the distance, the bends, slopes, or the fluctuations of weather conditions and climatic changes (drought, global warming, flooding, desertification, snow, etc)!

These wonderful beings are a great source of wisdom, energy, enthusiasm, and endurance, and not just a source of food and clothing for humans! That's why we should imitate them in perseverance and hard work to achieve goals, whatever their level because nothing is impossible; the word itself says I'm possible!
